There are lots of ways you can get involved and support Harbour’s work – from applying for a role with us, to fundraising in your community, or partnering with us to create long-term change. However you choose to contribute, your support helps us continue providing vital, shame-sensitive services to people affected by drug and alcohol use across Plymouth.
Our mission is to deliver support to individuals affected by substance use, creating safe spaces for healing, recovery and connection to thrive.
We recognise that substance use is a global issue shaped by trauma, inequality, and systemic factors, and we work to challenge stigma and reduce harm as both an independent charity and in collaboration with partners.
We envision a world where people who use drugs and alcohol are treated with dignity, not shame; where stigma is replaced with understanding; and where everyone has access to the compassionate support they need to heal, thrive, and make empowered choices.
Within our organisation, we strive to build a strong, collaborative team that upholds these values in our work, our partnerships, and how we care for one another. We strive to build a culture where every staff member feels a sense of belonging, support, and shared purpose.
We’re proud to offer a supportive, purpose-driven workplace for people who want to make a difference. Working at Harbour means being part of a team that values compassion, dignity, and connection. Our roles span frontline, clinical, administrative and strategic areas – all of them essential to the work we do. Keep an eye on this page for any current vacancies.
Volunteers play a vital role in supporting our services, whether through peer mentoring, counselling placements, or helping our teams with events, admin, and more.
We welcome expressions of interest from people with lived experience or a passion for helping others. Training and supervision are provided, and we’ll match you to the right opportunity where your skills can shine.
As a registered charity, Harbour relies on donations to support our work. Every contribution helps us to go further – whether that’s providing someone with a warm welcome, extending harm reduction outreach, or funding creative recovery groups.
You can donate in memory of a loved one, as a one-off, or set up regular giving. Your support helps us keep services free, compassionate, and accessible.
From bake sales and charity runs to workplace giving and local events, your fundraising efforts help us reach more people and make a bigger impact. We’ll support you with ideas, resources, and encouragement – and we love seeing what our community comes up with!
If you’re planning a fundraiser, get in touch at thcpltd.harbour@nhs.net.
Grants from trusts and foundations play a vital role in funding our work and piloting new projects. If you represent a funder interested in supporting compassionate, trauma-informed substance use services, please get in touch. We’d love to talk about the impact your support could make.
Leaving a gift in your Will or fundraising in memory of a loved one is a powerful way to honour life and support others. If you'd like to talk to us about legacy giving or setting up a tribute fundraiser, we’re here to help guide you through the process.
